Literature Text

I'm building sandcastles with the hopes and dreams of Peacocks,
Stack them higher and higher until it starts to lean a little.
So I walk the peacock's ambitions over to the edge of the docks,
And promise them that they're every need will be filled.
Then, as we watch the sun go down amongst the purples and blues,
I take each feather in to my hand as I lean in and whisper, 'I love you',
While I push the body into the crashing waves beneath.
But I don't hate or dislike the bird, I'm only doing what's right,
Because we were meant to be together, just not in this life.
I feel nothing, no pain or fear, as I tie the empty promises to my feet.
I only feel regret to have set the trap that pulled you in,
Because now I've brought you so close to your end.
Don't hate me for what I've done,
Please hate me for what I've become.
